Combine your Lourdes Pilgrimage with a family getaway this Easter!

The Easter holidays are traditionally a time for families to get together, feast on chocolate and make happy memories. It’s also one of the most important festivals in the Christian calendar. Each year thousands of Christians embark on a holy pilgrimage to Lourdes in the South West of France.

Only half an hour by car from Lourdes, Clos Mirabel (a beautiful 18th Century Manor House, set in 15 acres of private parkland) is the perfect base for a day trip. Visit the Grotto of Massabielle, The Basilica of the immaculate Conception, the Basilica of the Rosary, and the Museum of the Miraculously Healed by day then leave the hustle and bustle behind. Upon your return to Clos Mirabel Manor you’ll be able to enjoy some quiet personal reflection with breathtaking views of the entire chain of the Pyrénées Atlantiques.

If you don’t fancy driving to and from Lourdes, there are several trains and buses that run between nearby Pau and Lourdes daily from as little as 4 euros.

Make the most of your pilgrimage….Clos Mirabel is also within striking distance of the gorgeous Parc National des Pyrénées. Here you will find something to entertain everyone, whether it’s sampling the local wine and cheese, mountain walks, wine tasting, fishing, or kayaking down a river.

Feeling adventurous? Why not take a day trip to sunny Spain. San Sebastian in is only an hour and a half away and Bilbao with its Guggenheim Museum is an easy day trip too.

Plane tickets from the UK to Lourdes start from as little as £39 one way, so there’s never been a better time for the whole family to get away.
